My name is Christiana.  I am originally from Michigan, but have been living in Germany since 2006 (right after college).  I studied Mechanical Engineering and had an exciting job in the automotive industry which took me around the world and made me feel important.  Now I am a mom, which is much harder and less glamorous than my job was, but infinitely more rewarding.

My husband is from Mexico, and is also an engineer.  He moved to Germany about the same time I did, and we worked at the same company, which is how we met.    So yes, we are a Mexican-American family living in Germany.  This is us!

Our daughter Olivia was born in February.  She is beautiful, easy-going, and extremely talkative..  She is so curious about the world.   Sometimes I see flashes of her as an adult and I am so excited to live this journey together with her.

If you had asked me 6 years ago what my future would be, I never EVER would have thought it wouldOlivia be this.  I didn’t plan it, really.  I mostly just followed my gut and let God do the rest.  I’m curious to see where the road  will take us next.

Hi Christiana – No, it isn’t a little out there … my family members were born in four different countries, and citizens of three, living in the U.S.A … thanks for the visit!

I’m finding more and more similarities between us…both of us with Mexican husbands and I used to be a Chevrolet/Volkswagen car salesperson!!

Yeah, I know what you mean! I thought the exact same thing when I was going through all your posts. I noticed the names of your kids, especially Caesar, and thought “, hmm, either she or her husband must be hispanic”… and then I went on a hunt through your blog 😛 I love reading about your kids and all the creative ideas you’ve had! It reminds me SO much of what my mom did with us, and what I hope to do with Olivia and any future-lings 😀

Thank you for all of your awesome comments. You, too, seem to have a very interesting life abroad (despite you claiming different). Oh, the paths we wind up on sometimes – best ones yet!

As the saying goes, “life is what happens when you are busy making plans”… Hopefully life will continue to have many exciting twists to come.
